General Information

Lessons start from £9.99 and lesson duration is 1 hour minimum. For a full list of prices including applicable discounts and special offers, please ask your instructor. Gaines Driver Training (GDT) reserves the right to alter lesson prices with one weeks notice.

 

Terms & Conditions

·         You must hold a current valid licence (either provisional or full) which must be produced on the first lesson. You must also be able to read a number plate from a distance 20.5 metres (67 feet) using your glasses if normally worn.

·         You must immediately notify your Instructor of any changes to your ability or entitlement to have driving tuition, for example, loss of a valid provisional driving licence, or medical reasons.

·         You are not to take lessons under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The instructor will stop the lesson if he or she suspects that you are not fit to drive. The full lesson fee will still be chargeable.

·         After arriving at your nominated pick up point for your lesson if there is no reply at the address in question, your instructor will wait approximately 10 minutes. If after 10 minutes, you have not made contact or we are unable to reach you, the lesson will be abandoned and you will be required to pay the full lesson fee.

·         Your Instructor will endeavour to attend all lessons on time, but may have to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, such as breakdown. In this instance your instructor will let you know as soon as possible and you will not be charged for the lesson.

·         You are required to make payments of at least one lesson in advance.

·         Payment may be made by cash or cheque (with a guarantee card). If you wish to pay by credit or debit card please ask your instructor for more details.

·         Unpaid cheques (“bounced”) to school or instructor will incur a £20.00 administration fee.

·         Lessons may be cancelled but at least 48 hours notice must be given to your instructor. Failure to give at least 48 hours notice will result in the full fee being charged for the lesson, regardless of reason. 10 days notice must be given for cancellation of intensive courses and driving tests. Failure to comply with this condition will result in the full relevant fee becoming due to your instructor.

·         Your appointment card is also your receipt and must be brought to every lesson.

·         Your driving instructor will pick you up at the start of your lesson and drop you off at the end at your home address. If you require a pick up/drop off at a different location you must let your instructor know in advance.

·         All lessons must be completed within 6 months of booking.

·         Pupils may only use one of our tuition vehicles for a test when up to standard. Hire of a driving tuition car for your test is strictly at the discretion of your instructor, whose decision is final.

·         No responsibility can be taken by GDT for tests cancelled by the DSA due to bad weather, sickness or staff shortages and the school will charge for test time. You may be able to claim out of pocket expenses but this must be done directly through the DSA.  

·         Your instructor cannot take responsibility for you losing your documentation or failing an eyesight test. Your instructor will take responsibility if the test is cancelled due to the condition of his or her car.

·         Tuition cars are fully insured for tuition and driving tests with a reputable insurer and the relevant certificate of insurance will be made available for inspection upon request.
