Below is a testimonial from a full-licence holder, Gerald, who took a refresher session with Gaines Driver Training.

"I was recently in a car accident - fortunately no one else was involved. It was one of those icy mornings, the first week back to work. Sigh! The car was a write-off, and it put a huge dent in my wallet as well as my confidence. Driving past the site of the accident every morning on the way to work did not help, and being overly conscious like braking unnecessarily, going really slow, did not help other road users especially when I could possibly pose a danger to other road users driving this way.

I've known Rosie for quite a while and the thought came straight to me, why not go for a refresher lesson especially when the government is suggesting everyone needs to do one once every 10 years? I rang her and explained my situation and arranged for a refresher lesson.

The truth is, it was 2 hours well spent. After driving for a long time, I had picked up bad habits and even a lack of focus when driving on the road, especially when I was doing the same journey every day to and from work. But the lesson was not about eradicating the bad habits, it was about boosting my confidence on the road. Rosie went through several pointers like being more aware of my surroundings, anticipating the traffic ahead and planning what I want to do next, etc. Boy, I felt a weight lifted from my shoulders and began enjoying the experience of driving again.

I couldn't thank her enough to let her know that I have found my feet again and strongly recommend anyone who has been driving for some time to take time out to do a refresher lesson. Remember, I felt that with many miles under my belt, it made me a more experienced driver, unfortunately it also made me take things for granted and forget that a journey is more than just from A to B as there are other cars and people involved."
